TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT

Length of Contract:    240 days; 8 hours per day

                                                                                                        

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide support in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting the district-wide area network and devices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

Associates/Bachelor’s degree or certificates

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Understanding of latest industry trends and technologies

Knowledge and skills in assessing data

Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with employees, colleagues,

service providers, and community members

Knowledge and skills in using technology as an instructional tool

Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting skills

Knowledge of network design and server management

Ability to work with confidential and time-sensitive matters

Ability to work with end-user support in a responsive, helpful, courteous, and tactful              manner

 

Experience:

At least one (1) year in the technology field or technology internship preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  1. Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively at all times.
  2. Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
  3. Demonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patrons and encourage the use of technology work orders.
  4. Foster collegiality and team building among staff; encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
  5. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance from staff and students; hold staff and students accountable for high performance; recognize excellence and achievement.
  6. Articulate a clear direction for all students and staff; articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel.
  7. Assist with designing, configuring, upgrading, and repairing local and wide area infrastructure.
  8. Assist with evaluating, testing, and recommending technology for use in the educational environment.
  9. Assist with installing and testing approved technology upgrades in a networked environment.
  10. Assist with consulting the district on all technology needs to help obtain goals set forth by the district.
  11. Effectively implement and communicate DESE Commissioner Memos regarding technology requirements for the district and/or technology department.
  12. Assist with technical needs of DESE testing as needed
  13. Interact with administration, faculty, staff, and students to resolve technical issues
  14. Assist with maintaining Internet securities, including CIPA, etc., compliance with content filtering.
  15. Assist with maintaining district Wi-Fi and wifi securities
  16. Assist with researching technology products in support of procurement and development efforts. Assist with evaluating and recommending technology for purchase.
  17. Assist with developing long-term strategic planning for meeting future technology needs.
  18. Assist with supporting the development and implementation of new district technology needs.
  19. Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal and student denial of access to technology.
  20. Assist in coordinating with applicable administrators on all matters relating to purchasing and installing computers and other classroom educational technologies.
  21. Assist with conducting ongoing assistance in planning for the use and integration of curriculum-based technology in the instructional program.
  22. Assist with coordinating workshops and training of teachers and other opportunities to implement specific programs.
  23. Share information and conduct training with related personnel to interpret and implement program specifications.
  24. Assist in the coordination of district-wide projects and events that support the integration of technology into the curriculum.
  25. Assist with communicating with administrators and DIS to develop a technology plan for the department and/or campus.
  26. Assist with communicating the status of educational technologies and recommend changes and improvements.
  27. Assist with maintaining a program of regular visitation to all campuses to monitor the use of instructional technology.
  28. Assist management of bell system in collaboration with the administration.
  29. Assist in maintaining the intercom system.
  30. Assist in maintaining security camera system.
  31. Assist in maintaining security door lock system.
  32. Aid in system setups as directed (sound system, audiovisual, etc.)
  33. Assist with obtaining, evaluating, and recommending technology price quotes/bids.
  34. Assist with maintaining an accurate technology inventory list and replacement plan.
  35. Assist with monitoring and updating the district website and marquee as needed.
  36. Other duties as assigned.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer systems and related equipment, audiovisual equipment, calculator, printer, copier, scanner, VoIP telephone system, intercom system, sound systems, NVR, switches, routers, surveillance cameras, security door controls, fiber converters, fiber, cat 5A & 6 cabling, wireless access points
